Oropesa del Mar
Oropesa del Mar has a diverse history. It started as an important Roman port over 2,000 years ago. Later, it was ruled by the Moors before being retaken by Christians in the 13th century.
Nowadays, Oropesa del Mar is a beautiful seaside town popular among beach lovers during summer months. Since very recently, it also attracts tourists with Marina d'Or, an enormous seaside resort complex with luxury hotels, gardens and all kinds of activities like spas or water parks.
We would recommend taking a light stroll by the sea or even better, a 6km coast walk from Oropesa Del Mar to Benicàssim called Via Verde (eng. Greenway). Otherwise, explore the historic streets and visit the Castle that was built under the Islamic rulers in the 11th century. It has always been an important strategic and defensive building. And the view from the top is lovely.
Personally, the most unique place to visit is Museo del Naipe (eng. Playing Cards Museum). This museum has an extensive collection of playing cards, more than 5000 decks. There you can learn about the art of decorating and printing these cards in different countries and cultures.
